Fallen Heroes Tribute Week
The Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council invites you to honor the courageous men and women who risk their lives everyday while serving our community as first responders. Over the past century over 100 first responders have lost their life protecting Broward County. Today, one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States every 60 hours. Since the first known line-of-duty death in 1791, more than 20,000 U.S. law enforcement officers have made the ultimate sacrifice. Our firefighters also put their lives at risk every day and nationally over 100 firefighters are killed very year. And of course in 2001, over 400 firefighters made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council is committed to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of fallen heroes or those who have been permanently disabled while in the line-of-duty. Long-term support is also provided to the children of the fallen through the provision of college scholarships. We thank all of our first responders and recognize the sacrifices that they make every day.
